Silambam practice grows from physical strength and fitness to mental and emotional balance, breath, flexibility and body conditioning.
Here is a unique opportunity to experience a combination of physical fitness activity with Indian culture and history. Feel the adrenalin of stick weapon drills and explore the play of time, space, line and flow through this incredible martial art form.
The flow of the workshop will be as follows:
* Full Body Warm Up
* Stick Mobility Exercises
* Staff Rotation Techniques
* History of Silambam discussion
* Silambam Weapon Introduction / Demonstration
* Staff Combat Techniques
* Line and flow through Silambam
* Creating sequences using Silambam movements
Leave the workshop with knowledge on this ancient art form which improves flexibility, agility, and hand-eye coordination, kinesthetic awareness, balance, strength, speed, muscular and cardiovascular stamina from Silambam Champion Aishwarya Manivannan.
Participants will be required to wear comfortable workout clothes with sport shoes.
The fee includes refreshments during the workshop along with a meal post the session.
About the Host:
Aishwarya Manivanna is a Silambam Champion and has represented India in various championships bagging gold medals. She secured a Diploma in Silambam Fencing and grabbed the spotlight with her unique Silambam act when a video on National Handloom Day 2016 gained much popularity on social media. She is also a professor of art and design and has founded MAISHA studio which inspires people to become independent thinkers and confident individuals who understand their creative potential and are future leaders in their chosen fields.
