About The Event

All we do is tell stories, so why not bring our stories to life! Anybody can make comics, anybody can be a story teller, not all stories have to be complicated. In this workshop you'll be introduced into the world of story telling and comic making. You'll see how to turn small snippets of life into comics and make your own fictional characters. All you need is to add a little drama to an already dramatic or a boring situation and voila! You have a full blown comic.

With your instructor, Raaga Katta, you will start with how to identify a story and get into breaking it down into scenes, then design characters, (which includes a crash course on “how to draw cartoons”), write dialogues for the scenes and then put it all together! Along the process of learning how to make this comic you'll also get tips and tricks to make more comics in future. And without even realizing you're a comic artist, you can go "did I just make my first comic!?"

Participants needn’t bring anything in particular. They can get any of their digital drawing equipment (not a compulsion as Raaga is going teach in traditional methods using pencils, pens and paper) and can clear any doubts that you may have.

By the end of this workshop you can make and take home a 4 panel comic. The ticket includes all materials and tasty refreshments for the participants. Sign up for this immersive, fun journey and meet fellow creatives for a memorable Sunday.

About the Instructor - Raaga Katta is a former HR professional turned artist and a self taught cartoonist, popularly known as Grey Brains (@grey_brains) on instagram. She adds life to dark, mundane, absurd, weird, funny and cute moments of life by turning them into quirky comics. Her brain only looks at complex situations as stories. Her fictional characters are funnier than her, you'll never see them in real coz they ain't so trivial.

About the Venue - Aaromalé is an arts and cultural space that also moonlights as a co-creative community for creative folks to connect, collaborate, and craft something awesome. Huddled inside a 25-year-old property that looks every bit like a heritage mansion in Chikmagaluru or Kodaikanal, Aaromalé is where your creative mojo can thrive. Founded with the very intent of offering a quintessential platform for artists to collaborate and create, Aaromalé is the perfect home for our workshops, this summer.
